Assistant Professor
Department of Integrative Biology, University of Colorado Denver
Kaia is an incoming Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Colorado Denver. She earned her PhD at Harvard University in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program, where she used high-throughput methods to study the function of long non-coding RNAs with John Rinn and Marta Melé. She then joined Martha Bulyk’s lab across the Charles River at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where she studied alternative isoforms of transcription factors. She is interdisciplinary by nature, with expertise in both computational and experimental biology. Kaia has a long-standing goal of making science and academia more inclusive environments, and as such aims for her lab to be a welcoming and supportive place to train the next generation of scientists.
